Playing a Tape (see Fig. D)
1 Insert a cassette with the side to start playing facing the lid.
2 Select the tape speed to the same speed as that used for
recording.
3 Press nN.
4 Adjust the volume.
At the end of the reverse side, playback stops and the unit turns
off automatically.
If you plug in headphones (not supplied) to the EAR jack, you
will get monaural output from both left and right channels.

The BATT indicator goes off.

* PAUSE will also be automatically released when xt is pressed (stop-
pause-release function).
** If you leave the unit after the tape has been wound or rewound, the
batteries will be consumed rapidly. Be sure to slide
FF/CUE·REW/REVIEW back to the center position.
Note
If the tape is completely wound or rewound while searching forward/
backward during playback (CUE/REVIEW), the FF/CUE·REW/REVIEW
switch may not return to the center position when you release the switch.
In this case, push back the switch to the center to start playback.
To increase the playback speed
Slide the FAST PB switch in the direction of the arrow. The
playback speed will be increased.
To return to the original speed, slide the FAST PB switch to the
original position.
Precautions
On power
Operate the unit only on 3 V DC.
Use two R03 (size AAA) batteries.
On the unit
Use only the (standard microcassettes) with this
unit. Non-standard cassettes cannot be used because their “L”
dimension (see illustration) is different.
Standard
Only standard microcassettes
have a small indention of side A.
Non-standard
Approx. 5 mm Approx. 2.5 mm
Do not leave the unit in a location near heat sources, or in a
place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust or mechanical
shock.
Should any solid object or liquid fall into the unit, remove the
batteries and have the unit checked by qualified personnel
before operating it any further.
Keep personal credit cards using magnetic coding or spring-
wound watches etc. away from the unit to prevent possible
damage from the magnet used for the speaker.
When you do not use the unit for long, remove the batteries to
avoid damage caused by battery leakage and subsequent
corrosion.
If the unit has not been used for long, set it in the playback
mode and warm it up for a few minutes before inserting a
cassette.
If you have any questions or problems concerning your unit, please
consult your nearest Sony dealer.
Troubleshooting
Should any problem persist after you have made these checks,
consult your nearest Sony dealer.
A cassette cannot be inserted.
t The cassette is inserted in the wrong direction.
t nN has been already pressed.
The unit does not operate.
t The batteries have been inserted with incorrect polarity.
t The batteries are weak.
t PAUSE is slid in the direction of the arrow.
Recording cannot be made.
t The cassette is not inserted.
t The tab on the tape has been removed. (Even if only the
tab on the reverse side is removed, recording cannot be
made.) To reuse the tape for recording, cover the tab hole
with adhesive tape. To record on one side only, insert a
cassette with the side to start recording facing away from
the lid (reverse side).
t Improper setting of the VOR switch.
Recording is interrupted.
t The VOR switch is set to ON. When you do not use VOR,
set it to OFF.
Recording cannot be erased completely.
t The heads are contaminated.
Playback cannot be made.
t The tape has reached the end of the reverse side. Slide
DIR to switch playback side to FWD.
No sound comes from the speaker.
t The earphone is plugged in.
t The volume is turned down completely.
The sound drops out or comes with noise.
t The volume is turned down completely.
t The batteries are weak.
t Use the unit away from radiowave-emitting devices such
as cellular phones.
t The heads are contaminated. See “Maintenance”.
During CUE/REVIEW the tape stops or does not run.
You cannot fast-forward or rewind.
t The batteries are weak.
Tape speed is too fast or too slow in the playback
mode.
t Improper setting of the TAPE SPEED switch. Set it to the
same speed as that used for recording.
t The batteries are weak.
Tape speed is faster than the normal playback speed.
t The FAST PB switch is slid in the direction of the arrow.
Maintenance (see Fig. E)
To clean the tape heads and path
Press nN and wipe the 1heads, 2capstan and the 3pinch
roller with a cotton swab, moistened with alcohol every 10 hours
of use.
To clean the exterior
Use a soft cloth slightly moistened in water. Do not use alcohol,
benzine or thinner.

要增大播放速度时
请沿箭头方向滑动FAST PB 开关。播放速度即刻增快。
要恢复原来速度时,可以把FAST PB 开关滑回去原来位置。
使用前须注意
电源须知
限用3V DC 操作机器。
须用两个R03(七号,AAA)电池。
有关本机须知
本机限使用 (标准微型盒带)不能使用非标准
的盒带,因为它们的“L”尺寸(如图示)是不一样的。
标准品
只有标准的微型盒带在A面上
有一小缺口。
非标准品
大约5mm 大约2.5mm
不要把机器放置在靠近热源,可直接照射到太阳,多尘,或会受
到机械冲击的地方。
万一有任何杂物或液体掉进机器里时,即请立即取出电池,然后
找持有资格的人检查过以后,才可操作使用。
使用磁性码的个人信用卡或发条手表等,请远离机器放置以防受
带有强力磁铁的扬声器的影响而损坏。
长期不用机器时,请取出电池保存,以免因电池漏液或腐蚀而损
坏机器。
当机器长久放置再取出使用时,请先把机器设定于播放模式放置
加温几分钟后,才装盒带操作使用。
您的机器如果有任何疑问或难题,即请洽询附近的Sony销售店。
故障探寻
作了这些检查之后,如果仍不能解决问题时,即请洽询附近的Sony
销售店。
插不进去盒带。
t 盒带装插错了方向。
t 已按了nN
机器不能操作。
t 电池装错了正负极。
t 电池变弱了。
t 沿箭头方向滑动了PAUSE。
不能录音。
t 没有装插盒带。
t 磁带上的小翼被折除了。(即使只折除了倒绕面用小翼,也
将不能进行录音的。)要再利用磁带用于录音时,可用黏胶
带盖住小翼凹孔。如果只想录一面,请让要开始录的一面背
向着盖子(倒绕面)
t VOR开关设定不当。
录音中断。
t VOR(声控录音)开关设定在ON位置。不用VOR时,
把它设定于OFF(关掉)
录音不能抹音完全。
t 磁头脏了。
不能播放。
t 磁带已绕到倒绕面的末端。请滑动 DIR 以切换播放面为
FWD。
扬声器没有声音。
t 接插着耳机。
t 全转小了音量。
声音发生脱落或有噪声。
t 完全转小了音量。
t 电池变弱了。
t 在远离携带电话等无线电波发射装置处使用本机。
t 磁头脏了。参看“维修”
进行CUE/REVIEW(提示/检阅)当中,磁带停止了或不转动。
不能快进绕或重绕。
t 电池变弱了。
播放模式中的磁带速度太快或太慢。
t TAPE SPEED开关设定不当。把它设为和录音时所用速度
一样的磁带速度。
t 电池变弱了。
磁带速度比正常播放速度快。
t 沿箭头方向滑动了FAST PB 开关。
维修(参看图E
要清洁磁头和磁带通道时
机器每使用过10小时,便请按nN并用棉棒蘸湿酒精擦拭1
磁头,2 主动轴和 3 张紧轮。
要清洁外壳时
请用柔软布片蘸湿清水擦拭。不可使用酒精,油精或稀释剂。
