Warning indicators and messages
If indicators and messages appear in the viewfinder, on the LCD screen or in the display window,
check the following:
See the page in parentheses “( )” for more information.
The indicators and messages are displayed in yellow.
Warning indicators
The battery is dead or nearly
dead
Slow flashing:
•The battery is nearly dead.
Fast flashing:
•The battery is dead (p. 14).
• The battery is completely
dead, and cannot be
recharged.
Depending on conditions, the
E indicator may flash, even if
there are 5 to 10 minutes
remaining.
Warning indicator as to tape
Slow flashing:
•The tape is near the end.
•No tape is inserted (p. 21).*
•The write-protect tab on the
cassette is out (red) (p. 21).*
Fast flashing:
•The tape has run out (p. 21, 34).*
The video heads are dirty
Slow flashing:
•You need to clean the heads using the Sony V8-25CLD
cleaning cassette (not supplied) (p. 105).
Self-diagnosis display (p. 96)
Moisture condensation has
occurred*
Fast flashing:
•Eject the cassette, turn off your
camcorder, and leave it for
about 1 hour with the cassette
compartment open (p. 104).
The lithium battery is weak or is not
installed (p. 91)
You need to eject the cassette
Slow flashing:
•The write-protect tab on the
cassette is out (red) (p. 21).*
Fast flashing:
•Moisture condensation has
occurred (p. 104).
•The tape has run out

• CLOCK SET Reset the date and time (p. 86).
• For “InfoLITHIUM” Use an “InfoLITHIUM” battery pack (p. 18).
BATTERY ONLY
• CLEANING CASSETTE The video heads are dirty (p. 105).
• START/STOP KEY Press the START/STOP button to activate the ORC setting. This
message is displayed in white. (p. 78).
• ORC The ORC setting is working. This message is displayed in white
(p. 78).
• COPY INHIBIT You tried to record a picture that has a copyright control signal
(CCD-TRV87E only) (p. 90).
* You hear the melody or beep sound.
