Troubleshooting
FM Radio
Symptom Cause/Remedy
You cannot hear the FM
broadcast well.
Th
e receiving frequency is not fully tuned in.

elect the frequency manually to improve
reception (
page 53).
Reception is weak and
sound quality is poor.
Th
e radio signal is weak.
L
isten to the FM broadcast near a window since
the signal may be weak inside buildings or
vehicles.
Th
e headphone cord is not extended enough.
Th
e headphone cord functions as an antenna.
Extend the headphone cord as far as possible.
The FM broadcast is
affected by interference.
A de
vice emitting radio signals, such as a mobile
phone is being used near the player.
W
hen using a device such as a mobile phone,
keep it away from the player.
An FM station cannot be
preset.
Th
e headphone cord is not extended enough.
Th
e headphone cord functions as an antenna.
Extend the headphone cord as far as possible.

Symptom Cause/Remedy
There is no beep sound
when the player is
operated.
“
Beep” is set to “Beep OFF.”

The player gets warm.
Th
e player may become warm during and just after
battery charging. The player also may get warm
when a large amount of data is transferred. This
behavior is normal and not a cause for concern. Set
the player aside for a while to allow it to cool down.
The date and time have
been reset.
I
f you leave the player about three days with the
battery used up, the date and time may be reset.
This is not a malfunction. Charge the battery
until
appears on the screen (
page 13),
and set the date and time again (
page 39).
Noise is generated when
you connect/disconnect
headphones.
D
o not connect/disconnect headphones while
wearing them. Noise may result when you connect/
disconnect headphones during music playback;
however, this is not malfunction.
