Customizing Your VAIO Computer
Changing/Removing the Power-on Password
To remove the power-on password
1 Turn on the computer.
2 Press the F2 key when the VAIO logo appears.
3 Enter the current password for Enter Current Password and press the Enter key.
The BIOS setup screen appears.
4 Press the < or , key to select Security on the Boot menu to display another screen.
5 Press the < or , key to select the password type that you want to remove and press the Enter key.
6 At the new password entry prompt, press the Enter key without an entry.
7 At the confirmation prompt, press the Enter key once again.
The password type you selected in step 5 should now be indicated as Not Installed.
To change the power-on password
Remove the current password and then follow the procedure described in Adding the Power-on Password (page 86) to
add a new password.
